When I’m Hyperventilating
Think about all the things that are factually true.
She had short hair when she was little - a terrible bowl cut. She could not hear out of one ear. Before surgery, everyone thought it was funny when she would say “huh?” loud and fast.
She wore matching outfits with her sister. She liked Kim Possible. We watched Spy Kids together. We pretended to be them. She talked over and for her sister.
She went to the YMCA a lot. She started swimming lessons. She was a good swimmer. She had meets and wore googles. She was athletic. She got bad highlights in her hair. Her teeth needed fixed.
She was loud and hyperactive. My grandpa got annoyed. We all went sledding down her hill together. She didn’t like our cousin. She sided with me.
She went to middle school. She got braces. She was popular. she started volleyball. She had nice teeth. She dyed her hair. She had one best friend. She liked photography. She went to the Bahamas. She went to Australia.
She worked on the school newspaper. She worked at Jimmy John’s.
She got a girlfriend. She got a Mac laptop. I’m not going to say the bad things.
“No longer a danger to herself or others
She made up her mind and laced up her shoes
Yelled down the hall but nobody answered
So she walked outside without an excuse
She could do anything she wants to
She could do whatever she wants to do
She could go home, but she's not going to
I would do anything you want me to
I would do anything for you
I would do anything, I would do anything
Whatever you want me to do, I will do”
